About This Project

A complete 2BHK interior transformation in Whitefield with a dark-neutral palette, built-in wardrobes, and a custom modular kitchen. The client approached us with a clear vision: a space that felt luxurious without being ostentatious — warm but modern, functional but deeply beautiful. Our team spent three weeks in the design phase alone, iterating on concepts until the direction felt unmistakably right.

Every material was hand-selected. Every finish was debated. The result is a space that our clients use and love every single day — which is, ultimately, the only measure of success that matters.

Design Approach

Our concept for this Whitefield 2BHK was built around the idea of 'warm restraint' — a dark base palette of charcoal, deep taupe, and matte black, tempered by the natural warmth of walnut veneer, aged brass hardware, and textured linen upholstery. The apartment spans 1,050 sq ft across a living-dining area, two bedrooms, kitchen, and two bathrooms — a challenging footprint that required every design decision to serve double duty, both aesthetic and functional.

The living room became the centrepiece of the design: a custom curved sofa in deep teal velvet faces a wall-mounted TV unit with fluted walnut panels and integrated ambient lighting. The false ceiling drops gently at the perimeter to create a cove that washes the room in warm amber light, making the space feel intimate even at full ceiling height. In the master bedroom, we used a full-height upholstered headboard wall and a walk-in wardrobe niche with mirrored sliding doors to make the room feel twice its actual size.

Materials & Finishes Used

  • Gypsum false ceiling with perimeter cove lighting and recessed downlights
  • Walnut veneer TV unit and wardrobe shutters with brass inlay handles
  • Calacatta marble-look large-format tiles (800x1600mm) in living and dining
  • Custom upholstered curved sofa and dining chairs in performance fabric
  • Modular kitchen in matte white acrylic with Calacatta quartz countertop and Hafele hardware
  • Textured paint finish in living room — Venetian plaster effect on feature wall

Client Brief & Challenges

The clients — a young couple, both working in Whitefield's IT corridor — had just received possession of their new apartment and wanted a complete interior transformation within 90 days before their lease on a rental property expired. The primary challenge was the compressed timeline combined with the couple's high aesthetic expectations: they had an extensive Pinterest and Instagram reference board that mixed dark luxury with mid-century warmth — two aesthetics that can clash if not handled carefully. We resolved this by anchoring the dark palette firmly in the furniture and fixed elements, while using warm-toned lighting and natural textured materials to prevent the space from ever feeling cold or oppressive.

Key Outcomes

  • Project completed in 84 days from design sign-off to final handover — 6 days ahead of the client's move-in deadline
  • Final project cost came in at ₹18.5 lakh against an approved budget of ₹19 lakh, with no change orders
  • The clients rated their experience 5/5 and referred two family members within three months of moving in — both of whom are now active Define Home Interiors clients
